Hdpe Pipe Joints

Flange Joints

This type of jointing is done where it is difficult to weld pipes at site. Flange joints are usually done for higher diameter pipes.

Application
In this type of jointing flanges are inserted over the two ends of the pipes and pipe end collars are welded at the ends of the pipe. Welding is done by butt fusion method. Welding of the pipe end collar, to the ends of pipe, can be done at the place where there is no difficulty ion carrying out the welding process. Pipes can be joined by bolting the flanges in the normal manner.

Detachable Joints

These types of joints are normally used where the pipe lining has to be opened frequently. Detachable joints are popularly used when a defective pipe needs to be replaced by a fresh one and the jointing is to be performed without delay.

Application
These joints are made by joining two open ends with the help of over-sized sleeves of HDPE and bolting the same in position with the flanges.

Insert Type Joints

This type of jointing are generally used where ‘AJAPLAS’ HDPE pipes are used as Submersible Pump delivery lines. End of HDPE pipe should be such that it can hold Submersible Pump firmly.

Application
A Galvanized Iron (G.I.) pipe nipple is inserted at both ends of HDPE pipe by flaring the ends using a pre-sized conical plug. The grooved portion of the G.I. nipple is inserted into the flared end of HDPE pipe and further safety can be ensured by bolting it down. Flange with threads can be fitted on the threads of the G.I. nipple, thus enabling Submersible Pump to be flanged with the pipeline by flange bolting method.

Threaded Joints

This type of jointing is suitable for the pipes used in water boring, etc. and recommended for pipes manufactured to the size held down in ID: 1239 (part-1) 1973. In this method, threads are made of British Standard Normally metal cutting dies of adjustable and guided variety.

Application
Threads on one end should be cut in one operation only. Jointing can be done by screwing the pipes tightly with firm hands. Exact number of threads as required for the joint should be cut so that when the joint is made, all the threaded portion of the pipe is totally covered. Use of wrenches should be avoided.

End Collar Coupling Joints

These types of joints are generally used where the pipe line is not fixed and the line keeps on changing. With the help of ‘AJAPLAS’ End Collar Couplings, installation and dismantling of pipeline is easier and much faster.

Application
In this type of jointing, End Collar Couplings are welded at both ends of the ‘AJAPLAS’ HDPE Pipe, at the factory itself. Pipes are supplied with End Collars welded on it. Jointing of pipelines is done at site by putting a double lipped rubber seal to prevent leakage. The rubber seal conforms to the internal cavity of the clamp and sits light on the pipe ends of two pipes to be jointed together. This completely eliminates the chances of leakage. Clamps are supplied in two halves which fully envelopes the rubber seal and secures the pipe ends by giving it the required grip. These clamps are then mounted on the pipe with the help of two bolts.

Quick Release Coupler Joints

These types of couplers are made for the pipe sizes up to 160mm OD. We have also developed ‘AJAPLAS’ Quick Release Coupler Joints for high pressure application, required in Tea and Coffee plantation. We are the first company to come up with the plastic clamps, which makes the coupling joints light in weight. This makes the dismantling and shifting of pipe line very easy since plastic clamps have a larger life span and does not corrode.

Application
In these type of jointing “AJAPLAS” HDPE Pipes are welded with (Male/Female) Quick Release Couplers at both ends. Pipes are supplied with these couplers, welded on it, to the field, where they are jointed. Jointing of these pipes are supported with Rubber sealing ring, which is fitted in the cavity of the Male line Coupler, Latch and clamp set are generally mounted on the Male Coupler which holds the Female Couplers to give a robust and leak proof joint.

Butt – Welding Joints

This is a time saving, inexpensive and simple method of jointing HDPE pipes at site. Butt Welding of HDPE is a permanent and leak proof jointing method due to the homogeneous fusion of the pipe material under heat and pressure.

Application
The welding is performed within the temperature range for fusion of HDPE material. Perfectly welded joints are as strong as the parent pipe material itself. Though pipes up to 110mm outer diameter can be welded manually, butt welding accessories make the welding process for both large and small diameter pipes much easier.
